In the Premier League title battle, ALLAN MCGREGOR urged Rangers not only to score but to play to maintain momentum.
With a 1-0 victory at the Old Firm on Saturday, Steven Gerrard’s side extended their lead over Celtic at the top of the table, with a Callum McGregor own goal proving crucial.
With a string of brilliant saves in a poor first half for the Light Blues, Keeper McGregor held Neil Lennon’s side at bay, but eventually they took a significant step towards the top of the table.
As they bounced back from their Betfred Cup loss to St Mirren and were able to pick up wins in close Premiership meetings, Rangers have shown a different side to their game of late.
In the coming weeks, McGregor hopes the Gers will get back to their best to bring this season within touching distance of the championship.
“The most important thing is the team,”The most important thing is the team. “At the outset, I thought we weren’t ourselves, I guess.
“We were very passive and let them have a lot of possession, particularly up high. On Wednesday, I talked to you and [said]that the most important thing is to win.
That’s a positive trait. But at the same time, we have to start winning and playing well again.
“It isn’t always going to be this way. It’s good when, of course, it’s like this. But I guess we have to start playing better.
“We’ve been like this all season, defending well as a team and as a unit. I think that showed.”
