Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, ‘wants Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona and could make a swap deal for Raheem Sterling.’

According to reports, RAHEEM STERLING could be part of a stunning £60 million swap deal for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The Catalan giants are interested in signing the Man City winger, and Pep Guardiola is a big fan of De Jong.

El Nacional, a Catalan club, claims that a player swap could take place between the Etihad and the Nou Camp.

Barcelona has long admired Sterling, and according to the report, he’d be a perfect fit in Xavi’s system.

Sterling has only scored twice in 15 appearances for Man City this season.

Guardiola has reportedly approached Barcelona chief Joan Laporta about a swap because the 26-year-old isn’t a sure starter at the Etihad.

De Jong hasn’t had the impact in Barcelona’s midfield that they hoped for since his move from Ajax, and City boss Pep Guardiola is said to be a fan of the Dutchman.

The Catalans value De Jong at £60 million euros, while Man City value Sterling at £43 million.

If Pep wants to bring De Jong, who is 24 years old, to Manchester, he will have to pay Sterling plus £17 million.

De Jong arrived at Barcelona in 2019 after a £65 million transfer from Ajax, and he did so with high expectations.

However, his time in Catalunya has not been fruitful, as he was sent off in a league match against Cadiz earlier this year.
