Paulo Dybala’s future at Manchester United is uncertain, as Barcelona considers a Griezmann exchange.
Man United failed to sign Paulo Dybala in the summer of 2019 and may not have another chance now that the forward has been linked with Barcelona.
Manchester United may have made a major blunder by failing to pursue Paulo Dybala more aggressively in 2019, with the Argentine forward allegedly likely to join Barcelona in a swap deal.
Adidas and Manchester United have unveiled their official 2021/22 home jersey, which features a modern take on the club’s traditional designs.
Dybala was widely thought to be in advanced talks with United about a transfer two years ago, but the deal fell through.
The 27-year-old had recently completed a mediocre personal season with Juventus, scoring just five times in Serie A in 2018/19.
In only nine Champions League matches, he scored just as many goals as Juve did in reaching the quarter-finals.
During Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first summer transfer window, United intended to sign Dybala and sell Romelu Lukaku to Juventus.
The deal, however, fell through, and Lukaku eventually joined Inter Milan, where he has enjoyed a great two-year stint.
Last season, Lukaku was their leading scorer as they won their first Serie A title since 2010, while Dybala remained at Juve and has only won the top level once.
According to French daily L’Equipe, the latter is now connected with a swap deal with Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann.
Barca is attempting to reduce its pay expenditure by letting numerous high-profile players leave.
However, it seems that United’s pursuit of Dybala has come to an end, and that they have moved on to other targets, including Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Edinson Cavani has signed a new one-year contract with Manchester United, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is more likely to look for a centre forward next summer, when Haaland’s £64 million release clause becomes active.
Kane will also be in the final two years of his Spurs contract.
Dybala’s agent was in advanced talks with United regarding the move in 2019, according to Italian site Calcio Mercato, but Dybala personally asked him to pull out.
Dybala has never explained his change of heart, but he did say in an interview that he was close to leaving and was in talks with United. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
