Paul Scholes bemoans Arsenal’s Premier League title march and explains why “boring” Arsenal aren’t a “great team we’ll talk about in years to come”

Arsenal are a ‘boring’ team who will quickly be forgotten even if they win the Premier League title, says Paul Scholes.

The legend of Manchester United is not impressed with Arsenal’s performance against other elite teams and feels that they are frequently too unimpressive.

Arsenal is five points ahead of Manchester City, who have a game left, and will win the championship if they win all three of their remaining games.

They’re not the greatest champions we’ll ever see, in my opinion. Scholes stated on the Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast, “I don’t think we’ll talk about this team in years to come like great United teams.”

They haven’t defeated City and Liverpool, the top clubs for the past four, five, or six years, so you don’t always have to defeat the best teams. I don’t think anyone will talk about them as a fantastic team because of this.

“I know you can get away with losing those games, of course you can, but you have to go and defeat these teams if you want to be a great team.” They won’t have defeated Liverpool or City; instead, they will have been defeated by United.

Even if Arsenal wins the Premier League, Paul Scholes maintains that they are “boring” and that no one will discuss them in the years to come.

“I’m just trying to say that they’re not a team I’d turn on and watch all the time, but you can win in all different ways.”

“David Raya and the center-halves have been playing nonstop.” It’s been dull.

In their eight games versus the other five teams in the top five, Arsenal has only managed eight points.

They have defeated Aston Villa and Manchester United once, although they have also lost to each of them. They have drew and lost to Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, in their 17 meetings with teams now in the bottom half, they have won 14 of them and drew the other three.

For all the accusations that Arsenal are boring, they have scored 67 goals in 35 games, only two fewer than Man City, the most prolific team.

Their defensive record of 26 goals conceded is far better than their nearest competition – City are their closest rivals on 32.

Scholes has sought to cut down Arsenal regularly throughout the season, insisting that they are weak in comparison to previous champions.

He said on The Good, the Bad, and the Football podcast in January: ‘If Arsenal win the league, this could be the worst team to win the league. No member of the Arsenal team is included in the front four if you’re considering selecting a team of the season.

Arsenal is three wins away from winning the Premier League, and they may do so with fewer victories. “Look at previous champions— Liverpool’s forwards are brilliant.” [Bukayo] Saka is perhaps the only one, and I don’t think he’s been that good. He hasn’t contributed many assists or goals this season.

However, as Arsenal is also in the Champions League final, they might accomplish a historic double.

After travelling to Budapest undefeated, they will play Paris Saint-Germain on May 30.

The Gunners are already planning a trophy parade in Islington in the event that they win one or both of the competitions, though the bus celebration would have to be awkwardly cancelled if they flounder.
