Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delighted after Manchester United defeat Leicester to clinch Champions League

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed his delight as Manchester United earned Champions League qualification with a last-day victory at top-four rivals Leicester City.

A Bruno Fernandes penalty and Jesse Lingard’s late goal ensured Solskjaer’s side finished in third and returned to Europe’s elite club competition.

Chelsea ended the campaign in fourth place, while Leicester missed out in fifth despite spending most of the campaign in the top three.

Solskjaer told Sky Sports: ‘They have taken on so many things, we’ve had our ups and downs, but of course it came down to the last game and it is a wonderful achievement by everyone.

‘It was not a classic. We want to learn to win games like this, games we need a result in, and it has been a bit like mini-tournament this restart and it looks it as well.

‘We are a bit tired, leggy and everyone can see that. We are not the same as we’ve been early on, but we had to go for it and catch so many points and goals and they have done it.’
