Newcastle ‘will make a £10 million bid for West Ham in the coming hours,’ according to reports.

NEWCASTLE are targeting a centre-back in the transfer market.

According to reports in France, Newcastle is set to make an opening offer of between £8 million and £10 million for West Ham centre-back Issa Diop.

Following injuries to Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna at the London Stadium, the 24-year-old defender is currently enjoying a long run in David Moyes’ side.

The Magpies, on the other hand, appear ready to put West Ham’s resolve to the test as they scour the market for answers.

Sven Botman, a Lille defender, has already received a £30 million bid from Newcastle.

The Ligue 1 champions were simply unwilling to sell the Dutchman for that amount, despite AC Milan’s interest.

The focus then shifted to Diego Carlos, who had received a £25 million bid in the previous 48 hours.

Sevilla, however, turned down the bid once more, forcing Newcastle to start over.

Newcastle are reportedly set to make a bid for Diop ‘in the coming hours,’ according to L’Equipe.

After flying to Tyneside for his medical on Wednesday, Eddie Howe’s side has confirmed the £12 million signing of Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier.

Diop, on the other hand, is a huge asset to West Ham at the moment, as they battle an injury crisis in the heart of their defense.

It means Moyes is unlikely to sell Diop, who could be crucial for the Hammers as the season progresses.

The former Toulouse player’s contract has 18 months left on it, so West Ham isn’t under any immediate pressure to sell him.

Diop had piqued Liverpool’s interest around this time last year as they sought solutions to their defensive crisis.

West Ham, on the other hand, has shown no willingness to part ways with the player in the past, and the same is expected this time.

Newcastle is also looking for a striker and another left-back this month as they try to avoid relegation.
