Newcastle inducts two icons into the Hall of Fame during a lavish ceremony that includes Amanda Staveley.

SHAY GIVEN and Gary Speed MBE were inducted into the Newcastle Hall of Fame alongside Amanda Staveley and 400 guests during a lavish Foundation event.

Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi attended the black-tie event, which was attended by ex-players like Given and Demba Ba, as well as Foundation supporters and participants.

Throughout the pandemic, the successes of children, young people, families, adults, and staff were honored at this private event.

Given and Speed, two Newcastle icons, were inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame for their achievements to the club.

During his 12 years in the North East of England, Given made 463 appearances for the Magpies.

He even represented Newcastle in the Champions League.

Speed was also honored for his contributions to the team.

Speed played for the Magpies for six years, making 213 games.

Given has urged Newcastle fans to support new manager Eddie Howe as the club goes through a period of transition.

On BBC’s 5 Live Breakfast, he said: “We need to rally behind him.

“‘We could have gotten someone else,’ some fans will say. However, because the club is in such a precarious position at the bottom of the league, they must rally behind Eddie and his staff.

“Now is the time for the club to come together as one.” There have been far too many years of strife with the previous owner, as well as dissatisfied fans. There was a lapse in communication there.

“They’ve got a hard slog ahead of them, a long winter ahead of them.” For the most up-to-date rumours, rumors, and completed transactions, visit our Football news live blog.
