Given has urged Newcastle fans to support new manager Eddie Howe as the club goes through a period of transition.
On BBC’s 5 Live Breakfast, he said: “We need to rally behind him.
“‘We could have gotten someone else,’ some fans will say. However, because the club is in such a precarious position at the bottom of the league, they must rally behind Eddie and his staff.
“Now is the time for the club to come together as one.” There have been far too many years of strife with the previous owner, as well as dissatisfied fans. There was a lapse in communication there.
