Motherwell is planning to name a new director tomorrow.

Tomorrow, with current interim coach Keith Lasley, MOTHERWELL hopes to name a new boss, one of four men being considered for the permanent role.

Also affiliated with the job were former St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright, former Scotland international Graham Alexander and former Leeds United and Sunderland boss Simon Grayson.

The Fir Park board will conclude talks today and plan to quickly name Stephen Robinson’s replacement to give him time to prepare the team for the game against St Mirren on Saturday.

After 10 games without a victory, the Steelmen are currently 11th in the Scottish Premiership table, with only Ross County ahead of them on goal difference. The club would like to sign the new coach immediately so that they can reshape their struggling squad by using the January transfer window.

With the signing of former Rangers and Livingston goalkeeper Liam Kelly, who will be on loan from QPR for the rest of the season, Motherwell is expected to begin the process today.

Jordan Archer, who in October joined Motherwell on a short-term contract to replace Trevor Carson, yesterday sealed a move to Middlesbrough, the English Championship team.

With Carson beating Hamilton on Saturday with a recurrence of a knee problem and replacing Aaron Chapman in a miserable performance in the 3-0 loss, Kelly will deputize alongside the recalled PJ Morrison for the Northern Ireland International.

Archer has previously expressed his desire to prolong his stay in Lanarkshire, but says it was too good to turn down the opportunity to join Middlesbrough.

A couple of weeks ago, I caught wind of it and learned of the interest,”I caught wind of it a couple of weeks ago and heard about the interest,”

This season, I have been watching the Championship and the lads have done fantastically well.

“I know a few of those guys, and they all told me about them very well. The other day, I received a call from the coach, so that made it very convenient for me to make the move.

“I was here last season before I went to Fulham, so I know my way around. The club is in a much better position in terms of where they are in the league. I’m looking forward to mixing with the lads.”

Meanwhile, after rumors emerged linking the captain of Fir Park to a transfer to the champions, former Motherwell and Celtic striker Scott McDonald cast doubt about whether Declan Gallagher would add consistency to the Celtic squad.

“McDonald said, speaking on the Celtic Huddle podcast: “I think he did an outstanding job playing for Scotland.

It is understood that he is no-nonsense. But for me, it’s unclear whether he can take Celtic to the next level.

You can’t blame just one player, of course, but the shape is not particularly good at the moment at this soccer club.

Someone like Declan Gallagher definitely knows that he’s an ardent Celtic fan and desperately wants to put on green and white jerseys, he’s been at Celtic before.

“Right now, I think that’s what the fans especially want. The players’ dedication and what it means to the fans.

They’d like to see people wearing a jersey that also means something to them. I guess one of them will be Declan Gallagher.’
