Moment Conor McGregor is surrounded by cops before spending two days in custody over sex assault claims

THIS is the moment Conor McGregor was handed a summons by French police over allegations of attempted “sexual assault and indecent exposure”.

Pictures show the UFC star, 32, surrounded by cops at the Port of Calvi, on the French island of Corsica on Friday morning.

McGregor was released without charge after spending two days in custody and has completely denied the allegations.

An investigating source later revealed that the claims about McGregor relate “to an incident involving a young woman in a bar in Calvi very late last Sunday evening,” referring to September 6.

“The accused had been drinking heavily around the Marina, and is said to have got involved in some bad behaviour.”

A formal complaint was made to police on Thursday by an as-yet unnamed witness, believed to be the woman from the bar.

McGregor was said to have been “behaving inappropriately”. One witness claimed he made “obscene gestures”.

This led to police raiding McGregor’s £3million yacht, which was named locally as the ‘Dave Ocean’, the next day.

McGregor “answered this summons on Friday morning” said the source, who said that McGregor made his way to the local Tramariccia Gendarmerie by bike, surrounded by bodyguards.

“It was there that he was questioned by a magistrate and judicial police,” said the source, before being released on Saturday.

The source said “a number of tests” had been carried out on McGregor while in custody, without offering further information.

McGregor has been staying on his yacht, which is moored close to Calvi, the upmarket port town in the north of the island.

“The suspect was arrested and placed in custody by the judicial authorities,” said a spokesman for the Bastia prosecutor. “He was released on Saturday.”

The UFC star, 32, vigorously denies the claims after he was held by cops early yesterday following an incident in a bar in Corsica.

He was held just hours before he was due to take part in a 80-mile water bike dash from Corsica to Monaco as part of a campaign to highlight water safety.

A statement from the prosecutor’s office given to AFP read: “Following a complaint filed on September 10 denouncing acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition, Mr. Conor Anthony Mac Gregor was the subject of a hearing by the gendarmerie services.”

A representative for McGregor has told TMZ: “Conor McGregor vigorously denies any accusations of misconduct.

“He has been interviewed and released.”

The retired MMA star had been on holiday in Corsica amid rumours that he’s planning a UFC comeback.

His arrest comes just days after the US anti doping agency came to test him in Corsica despite the fact he has retired – and he posted an image of the kit he had been sent on his Twitter account.

He wrote: ”What’s going on here @UFC” adding:”I’ve retired guys ! But go on then, I’ll allow them to test me. IT’s all natural baby !”

French police can hold a suspect for an initial period of 48 hours before having to apply for an extension to custody, charge them, or release them.

In this case McGregor was released without charge, but the case has not been closed, and there may be further action.

Emmanuelle Ramon, McGregor’s lawyer, said his client ‘vigorously denied any wrongdoing’.

‘He has been released before the legal end of police custody and without any judicial review,’ said Mr Ramon.

It was not clear whether Mr Ramon was being asked to remain on Corsica while enquiries continued.

Audie Attar, McGregor’s manager, said in a statement: “I am irate and putting out a warning loud and clear: Conor McGregor is not and will not be a target for those seeking to score a headline or a payday.”

In Corsica, McGregor was preparing to take part in a 180km, 24-hour charity water bike race from Calvi to Monaco.

Princess Charlene of Monaco would have been alongside him to help promote water safety, but McGregor has now been forced to withdraw.

Earlier this week, The Sun reported how the Irish MMA star went on a topless run in Corsica with his team of trainers following in a black car behind him.

As part of the charity event, McGregor was due to travel from Calvi to Monaco as quickly as possible on a water bike.

The MMA legend was also pictured planting a kiss on bride-to-be Dee’s lips while he has also been dining on a diet of bloody steak and whiskey on his Corsica holiday.
