Mohamed Salah was “let down” by two Reds players, according to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.

Since the start of the new Premier League season, Mohamed Salah has been in outstanding form.

Mohamed Salah was let down by Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino during Liverpool’s failed Premier League title campaign last season, according to Jamie Carragher. This season, the Egyptian forward has had an incredible start, scoring nine goals in as many games across all competitions.

On present form, he is probably one of the best players in the world, and he is leading Liverpool’s forward push this season by example.

Salah has started every Premier League game since the start of the season, and he was at his best against Manchester City on Sunday.

After halftime, the 29-year-old supplied an inch-perfect assist for Mane’s opener before scoring a spectacular solo goal late in the game.

Salah’s efforts, though, were only rewarded with a single point thanks to City’s late equalizer by Kevin De Bruyne.

After scoring 31 goals the previous season, he is highly expected to play a vital role for Liverpool again this season.

Despite Salah’s amazing haul, the Reds only managed to finish third in the Premier League, 17 points behind eventual champions City.

Carragher has since argued that Liverpool would have done better if Salah had been better backed by Mane and Firmino, who were unable to match his attacking output.

“When was the last time he wasn’t on fire? Right now, this guy is an absolute superstar “Sky Sports quoted the former Liverpool and England defender as saying.

“With his current form, you might argue he’s the best player in the Premier League right now. He’s been a force to be reckoned with.

“He was almost let down by the rest of the legendary front three at times last season, but he’s never, ever lost those standards.

“At this point, with less than two years left on his contract, it’s simply unfathomable that he won’t be playing for Liverpool in the next 18 months.”

Salah’s contract expires in the summer of 2023, but he has yet to commit to an extension, with talks reportedly taking place behind closed doors.

Since the end of last season, Liverpool has secured the services of a number of key players, including Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Jordan Henderson.
