Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, says that an important duo will miss the match against Liverpool.
Arsenal plays Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday night (5:30pm).
Mikel Arteta is concerned about the fitness of captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Thomas Partey ahead of this weekend’s trip to Liverpool. The Spaniard was expecting for signs of improvement in the pair’s fitness in the team’s penultimate training session before traveling north to Merseyside on Friday.
Arsenal will arrive at Anfield full of confidence, as they are the Premier League’s most in-form team, having not lost since August.
The Gunners have won six of their previous eight games as they aim for a top-four finish after losing their first three games.
It may be argued that Arsenal are playing Liverpool at the ideal time after Jurgen Klopp’s team was defeated at West Ham prior to the international break.
On Saturday, they will be without a number of crucial players, including Andy Robertson, Roberto Firmino, and James Milner.
Arsenal, on the other hand, could be dealing with injury issues of their own, as Arteta awaits word on whether Aubameyang and Partey will be available.
“No, it wasn’t planned [for Auba to return home early], but we’ll have to assess him and see how he’s doing before making a choice,” she stated “Arteta remarked.
“Same thing [for Partey], he couldn’t play for the national team, despite his best efforts. They had a big game coming up, and he really wanted to play in it, but he wasn’t close enough.”
“It’s something we’ll have to evaluate today.”
Instead of playing in Gabon’s final World Cup qualifier, Aubameyang flew home on a private charter airplane.
Arteta has since stated that there was no pre-arranged deal and that Aubameyang had instead identified an issue.
Meanwhile, due to a groin injury, Partey was forced to miss Ghana’s final World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
The same issue kept the former Atletico Madrid midfielder out of Arsenal’s triumph over Watford at home before the international break.
Arsenal’s resurgence this season has surprised no one, including Klopp, who knows his Liverpool team will have to be at their best to beat the Gunners.
“I’m not shocked,” Klopp stated. “The season begins, and the first matchday winner – if you win. “Brinkwire Summary News “..
