Mike Tyson has had his say on where Tyson Fury’s bout with Deontay Wilder ranks among the sport’s best-ever fights.

Boxing great Mike Tyson has given his verdict on Tyson Fury’s trilogy bout against Deontay Wilder, describing the fight as one the greatest of all time.  Fury was the man to prevail in the early hours of Sunday morning in Las Vegas as he secured victory with an 11th-round knockout, however it was far from straightforward for the Brit.

Both fighters found themselves on the canvas on more than one occasion throughout the bout, as Wilder was the first man to take a fall as he was put down by Fury towards the end of round three.

However Wilder picked himself up and reacted well, as he knocked Fury down not once, but twice in the very next round.

As he has done throughout his career Fury rallied again to get himself back on top, and he had Wilder’s number again as a strong right hand put the Bronze Bomber down in the tenth, as he began to show fatigue.

The fatigue then proved all too much a round later as he finally succumbed to Fury’s power and skill, as the Gypsy King landed a killer blow in round 11 to seal victory.

Following the all-action fight, former heavyweight champion Tyson took to social media and heaped praise on the bout, and two fighters.

He tweeted: “Fury vs Wilder fight will go down as one of greatest. Not for skill but for action and excitement. That fight was all guts, heart & determination. Everybody won Saturday night. The fight was bigger than the hype. Both of them reached all time great status.”

Fury himself also paid homage to the fight and his performance, describing himself as the ‘greatest heavyweight’, and comparing himself to the likes of Tyson and Muhammad Ali.

He commented: “I can only beat whoever’s in my era and I’ve done that all my life. I can only be the best of my day and I’ve done that. I’m the greatest heavyweight of my era, without a doubt.”

“There’s a long, long line of [great champions]and they go right back to John L Sullivan, Jack Dempsey, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, the Klitschko brothers, even the guys from today like. “Brinkwire Summary News”.
