Melvin Guillard, an ex-UFC fighter, shows off a horrific eye injury that necessitates surgery after a violent Bare Knuckle fight.

FORMER Melvin Guillard, a UFC fighter, required surgery after suffering a severe eye injury in a Bare Knuckle fight.

Following his KO loss to Joe Riggs in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship on Saturday, the 38-year-old urged supporters to pray for him ahead of the op.

It was Guillard’s fourth BKFC loss in a row.

During his 10-year UFC career, the American faced Nate Diaz, Justin Gaethje, and Donald Cerrone.

He has struggled to establish himself in the BKFC since leaving the octagon.

Guillard posted photos of his severe eye injuries on Instagram after his recent loss in Montana.

He wrote: Along with photographs of his swollen eye, he wrote: “I just found out at 3.15 a.m. that I have five fractures in my orbital, thus surgery is scheduled for today.

“I just wanted to inform my fans, friends, and family. I’ll be fine; just remember to pray for me.

“If I said I wasn’t nervous right now, I’d be lying. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.” Despite a string of losses and a horrific injury, Guillard has no intention of giving up.

Guillard later said after confirming his release from the hospital: “I appreciate all of my fans and supporters’ support… It’s not going to slow me down or prevent me from achieving my goal.” However, it appears that not everyone is rooting for Guillard to keep fighting.

Several concerned fans resorted to social media to express their dissatisfaction.

Some even demanded that Guillard be barred from ever fighting again.

Tom Taylor, an MMA writer, tweeted: “At this point, no commission should be allowing Melvin Guillard to fight. #BKFCMONTANA.” GET OVER £2,000 IN NEW CUSTOMER DEALS WITH FREE BETS Jack, an MMA aficionado, added: “Guilard was in bad shape at the time.

“His blows appeared to be slow, and he was knocked down by Riggs’ first punch… He has to put an end to it.

“BKFC is a complete farce… Their whole roster consists of retired MMA fighters.”
