Man United’s fixation with the interim could cost them vital transfers in the January transfer window.

Manchester United is thought to be in contact with former Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde.

Manchester United’s current caretaker manager, Michael Carrick, began his temporary term with a spectacular Champions League victory over Villarreal.

However, United officials were thought to be in talks with another alternative possibility as the Englishman was applauding Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho on their goals.

United’s progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League is no longer certain, as it was during Carrick’s playing days.

Unai Emery’s tenacious side pressed them once more, and the result may have been different if Emery’s players hadn’t committed a couple of defensive errors.

While United was in Spain celebrating their title, club executives were in talks with a potential interim solution that was not far away.

Valverde has won two La Liga titles, including a league and Copa Del Ray double in 2017-18.

His credentials are impressive, having previously coached Athletic Bilbao, Valencia, Olympiacos, and Villarreal. He has been available since his somewhat harsh dismissal by the Catalans in January 2020.

More well-known names include Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane, and Brendan Rodgers, although the 57-year-name old’s is primarily spoken in the context of interim solutions.

When Solskjaer was hired to replace Jose Mourinho, he was expected to do little more than occupy a space at Old Trafford until a more exciting opportunity arose.

DON’T MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY!

Zinedine Zidane, the manager of Manchester United, is divided between two worlds.

The coaching staff at Manchester United is split on Ronaldo and Fernandes.

Barcelona is chastised by Messi for allowing him to play for free.

Regardless, United’s performances under Solskjaer were nothing short of magnificent, and he was given the reigns of the club.

Carrick’s next match will be against Thomas Tuchel’s surging Chelsea side in the Premier League.

United, on the other hand, has been a thorn in Chelsea’s side since November 2017, when the Blues last won in the Premier League.

While the Blues have defeated United in the FA Cup semi-finals and finals in 2020, the Red Devils have a solid record against the west Londoners.

Carrick has an excellent opportunity of leading his team to a convincing victory on the road.
