Man United’s Cristiano Ronaldo: Every word the new signing said about Solskjaer and Ferguson
Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United has been accomplished.
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United on deadline day, 12 years after leaving the club to join Real Madrid.
The declaration put an end to the long wait as the Portuguese international was revealed as a United player once more.
After stating his intention to leave the Serie A giants, Ronaldo has returned to the club in a £19.6 million deal.
For a brief period, it appeared as if United’s arch rivals Manchester City would sign the attacker, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team eventually snatched Ronaldo from their hands.
Former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, whom the 36-year-old credits for the move, is one of the key reasons Ronaldo chose United over City.
During their conversation, the former United manager is said to have persuaded the Portuguese star to finish his spectacular comeback.
Ferguson signed Ronaldo as a kid from Sporting CP in 2003, and he went on to become a global superstar under his guidance.
“As everyone knows, Sir Alex Ferguson has been the key since I signed for Manchester [United] at the age of 18,” Ronaldo told MUTV.
“I recall when I was at Sporting Lisbon, we played Manchester United.
“In football, Sir Alex Ferguson is like a parent to me. He was a huge assistance to me, and he taught me a lot, and in my perspective, he played a large role because of our friendship; we keep in touch all the time, and he’s an incredible person.
“I truly admire him, and he was the main reason why I was able to sign for Manchester United in the first place.”
Ronaldo is now on international duty with his country in preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, but he will rejoin his teammates whenever he returns.
However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner praised current United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was a teammate of Ronaldo’s during his first stay at the club.
“Well, we had a chat,” Ronaldo added, “but of course, I’m going to have time to meet with him face to face and find out what he expects.”
“As you know, I played with him at Manchester United for two or three years, so I have an excellent relationship with him,” Brinkwire Summary News said.
