Man United will announce a £68 million agreement for Raphael Varane and Kieran Trippier ‘next week.’
Man United are reportedly on the verge of signing two more players as their summer window plans come together.
Manchester United are allegedly close to completing the signings of Raphael Varane and Kieran Trippier from La Liga. After all, the Old Trafford leadership was able to move forward with its transfer ambitions this week, clinching a £73 million agreement for Jadon Sancho.
Adidas and Manchester United have unveiled their official 2021/22 home jersey, which features a modern take on the club’s traditional designs.
Sancho, an England winger, will join for United once a physical has been completed.
Bos Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoped to bring in at least two or three new players this summer in order to close the gap on Manchester City.
Last season, the Norwegian led United to a second-place finish, but they were 12 points behind Pep Guardiola’s team.
United also conceded more goals (44) than any of their other top four finishers during the course of the season.
Solskjaer has identified a few crucial areas for improvement and has made decisive moves early in the transfer season to complete his first-choice XI.
According to the Sun, the deals for Varane and Trippier are nearing completion and could be completed next week.
After having their defensive frailties exposed without England defender Harry Maguire towards the conclusion of the season, United have been looking for a long-term partner for the centre-back.
Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have yet to persuade me that they can be Maguire’s permanent sidekick.
When Maguire’s season was cut short after sustaining ankle ligament damage in United’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on May 9, both players were struggling.
Varane, a defender for Real Madrid, is anticipated to fill that vacuum and is a true world-class addition to Solskjaer’s squad.
The France defender is expected to cost over £50 million, which would eat into the club’s transfer budget after the high-profile signing of Sancho.
Meanwhile, Trippier, a talented full-back from Atletico Madrid, is expected to arrive soon.
At right-back, Trippier would provide some much-needed competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Wan-Bissaka joined the club for £50 million from Crystal Palace in 2019 and has impressed in both seasons, notably with his end product.
At United, though, there is speculation that he could progress to the next level. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
