Man United are planning another attempt on Real Madrid for a £60 million midfielder.
Manchester United are trying to reinforce their midfield in January and consider Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde as a good fit – but they’ll have to convince Carlo Ancelotti to let him go first.
The Red Devils are in a slump, having lost three of their previous five Premier League games, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under increasing pressure.
The club went all out in the summer transfer window, bringing in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo, but their links to central midfielders like Saul Nguez and Eduardo Camavinga fell through.
As a result, the team will hope to save their season in the January transfer window. Declan Rice, who has been in outstanding form for West Ham, is one alternative, but the teenager is valued at almost £100 million.
So, according to El Nacional, the Red Devils have chosen to try and entice Valverde away from Los Blancos, with a price of £60 million on the table.
The 23-year-old was fantastic in Madrid under Zinedine Zidane, but he has only one assist this season and has battled to break into the first squad, where he is competing against Casemiro, Toni Kross, and Luka Modric.
According to rumors, the Uruguayan signed a contract extension with Real in August, and manager Carlo Ancelotti views him as a significant asset for the future.
United must also contend with Valverde’s £856 million (€1 billion) release clause.

According to sources, the La Liga player is being considered as a replacement for Paul Pogba, whose contract with the club expires this summer.
The 28-year-old has been linked with Real Madrid, PSG, and Juventus, but it’s suggested he might be used in a swap deal with Ancelotti’s side, with Valverde travelling to Old Trafford.
Pogba, who is now sidelined, last played for United in October, when he received a red card in a 5-0 loss to Liverpool.
