Liverpool have issued a warning about the possibility of Mohamed Salah joining PSG as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
MOHAMED SALAH has a contract with Liverpool until June 2023, but PSG is interested in signing him.
Liverpool has been warned that they must resolve Mohamed Salah’s contract as soon as possible, or else PSG will swoop in to sign their star player.
Kevin Campbell, a former Arsenal striker, believes the Reds are risking “opening the door” to rivals in the transfer market by taking their current approach.
Salah’s contract expires in June 2023, but a new contract has been discussed in recent months.
The 29-year-old is on fire, having scored 23 goals in only 26 appearances this season.
Liverpool has been put under pressure to act as a result of his performance, but no new contract has been reached.
Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, is reportedly asking for around £500,000 per week in order for his client to sign a new contract with Liverpool, according to The Mirror.
The Reds are reportedly hesitant to change their salary structure to accommodate the Egyptian, but Campbell believes that time is of the essence.
“Salah could be at the top of PSG’s list,” Campbell said to Football Insider.
“It’s a distinct possibility.”
“The Liverpool negotiations are taking far too long.
They’re allowing other teams to target him.
They’re about to open the door.
That must be resolved as soon as possible.
“PSG will be 100% interested in someone who can score as much as Salah.
Who wouldn’t be if they weren’t?
“If [Kylian] Mbappe leaves, PSG will have to replace his goals.”
Salah is one of the few people on the planet who can do that.”
In recent months, Liverpool has focused on securing new contracts for their star players.
Over the past year, Alisson, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all signed new deals.
Salah’s contract, as well as those of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, expires at the end of June 2023.
Due to their wealth and the fact that Mbappe is set to leave for Real Madrid in the summer, PSG has been mentioned as a possible destination for Salah.
Mbappe’s contract expires in July, and he has so far refused to sign a new deal despite Real’s interest and two transfer offers.
