Liverpool have been linked with a move for Franck Kessie, with agents ready to meet.

After the departure of Gini Wijnaldum, Liverpool are looking for a new midfielder this summer.

As his contract talks with AC Milan stagnate, Liverpool have been linked with a move for midfielder Franck Kessie. Last season, the Ivory Coast international scored 13 goals and added six assists for Milan, leading them to second place in Serie A.

His outstanding performances have sparked interest from some of Europe’s biggest teams, who are looking to take advantage of his contract predicament.

Kessie’s current contract expires next summer, and he has yet to commit to a new agreement with Milan, forcing the Serie A giants to decide whether to cash in during the current transfer window or risk losing him for free.

Milan just saw the same thing happen with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, who both joined PSG and Inter Milan.

According to a report from Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport, Kessie’s agent will meet with Milan’s leadership next week in the hopes of reaching an agreement.

Milan is now representing Ivory Coast in the Tokyo Olympics, and it is expected that after he returns from Japan, he would try to negotiate a deal.

Liverpool are still looking for a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who joined PSG on a free transfer this summer.

So far in the transfer window, Jurgen Klopp’s team has only made one addition, signing RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate for £36 million.

The Reds will have to focus on outgoings before they can begin adding to the group, according to reports, and work has already been made in this area.

Marko Grujic and Taiwo Awoniyi, both of Liverpool’s midfielders, have just left the club on a permanent basis for a combined fee of £17 million.

The pair only made 16 first-team appearances for the Reds after being bought for £5.5 million.

As Liverpool’s summer clear-out continues, further departures are expected in the coming weeks, with Harry Wilson rumored to be one of the first to agree terms with a new club.

The Welsh winger has spent the last four seasons on loan and is now looking for a permanent position.
