Liverpool face an injury scare as Diogo Jota misses Portugal training and faces being sent home early if he isn’t healthy.
DIOGO Jota has been exercising alone and was forced to miss Portugal’s 3-0 victory over Qatar on Saturday.
Fernando Santos has confessed that the 24-year-old has a’small’ chance of participating in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg, and that he could be sent back to Liverpool early.
Jota has skipped group sessions in favor of one-on-one training with coach Joao Brito.
“He trained a while ago, raised the intensity today with Joao Brito, but he didn’t train with us,” Santos explained.
There will be a slim chance. I’ll speak with him and find out how he feels.
“That’s great if we feel he has any conditions to sit on the bench and then come in.
“We won’t take a chance with a player who hasn’t been able to train with us in a long time if we don’t.
“I’ll make a decision soon, and if he is unable to participate, he will travel to Liverpool.”

The injury scare comes at a bad time for the Reds, who have a full month of fixtures ahead of them.
On Saturday, his team travels to Watford before heading to Madrid for a Champions League match against Atletico Madrid the following Tuesday.
Next up is a thrilling match versus arch rivals Manchester United.
The Reds won’t have much time to recover after that, with games against Preston in the Carabao Cup, Brighton, Atletico Madrid, and West Ham all coming within 11 days.
Due to the hectic schedule, Klopp and his teammates will be keeping an eye on Jota’s fitness, as he has been crucial so far this season.
He appears to have surpassed Roberto Firmino as Liverpool’s No. 1 striker, having started six of the club’s seven Premier League games.
Jota’s fitness has been a source of concern for Reds fans, since he has already scored three goals in the league, helping Liverpool to second place in the table.
