Mauricio Pochettino has been accused of ‘disrespecting’ Lionel Messi, while Neymar has also been chastised.
Mauricio Pochettino claims Lionel Messi kept him in the dark about his positive Covid-19 test.
According to reports, Lionel Messi was accused of disrespect after failing to inform Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino that he had contracted Coronavirus.
According to reports in France, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager learned of the Barcelona legend’s positive Covid-19 test from third parties rather than directly from his Argentine compatriot.
The 34-year-old was seen with his wife Antonela at a concert in Rosario, Santa Fe, during the winter break from French football.
Despite the fact that no one knows where Messi contracted Covid-19, he was forced to miss PSG’s 4-0 French Cup victory over third-tier Vannes on Monday.
However, the way Pochettino was informed of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s positive test appears to have left a bad taste in his mouth.
Jerome Rothen, a former PSG player, slammed the Argentina captain, saying his actions were “extremely disrespectful” to his manager.
“You must always respect your coach,” Rothen told Radio Montecarlo.
“The coach must be the boss of the time, regardless of whether he is a superstar or a young player.”
“Pochettino was unaware of Messi’s whereabouts, which explains a lot.”
This is not a good thing, and I believe Messi’s behavior is shocking.”
Messi has had a mixed season since his summer arrival, with only one goal and five assists in eleven Ligue One appearances but five goals in five Champions League appearances.
Rothen, on the other hand, maintained that the 34-year-old’s approach and demeanor following his positive test was “disrespectful” of Pochettino.
“Lionel Messi is disrespecting Pochettino,” the ex-PSG winger added.
“The coach must be a strong man who exemplifies true values.”
Kylian Mbappe, in my opinion, is the only player who holds him in high regard, and I haven’t noticed anything with the other players.
“You will not be successful if you don’t respect your coach.”
In recent years, PSG has been severely harmed by this.”
Messi’s attacking partner and former Barcelona teammate Neymar was also heavily criticized by Rothen.
PSG announced that Neymar would be allowed to remain in Brazil for the time being.
