Lewis Hamilton says he doesn’t like it when people say they don’t like it when they say they don’t like it. Lance Stroll is backed for a move by George Russell at Mercedes.

Former Formula One world champion Jacques Villeneuve has tipped Lance Stroll to partner Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes.

According to Jacques Villeneuve, Lewis Hamilton might be partnered with Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll at Mercedes next season. George Russell, a former Williams driver, is expected to take Valtteri Bottas’ seat in the 2022 season.

Villeneuve, on the other hand, feels Stroll and Bottas may switch teams, which would be a major surprise on the F1 grid.

Toto Wolff’s tight relationship with Stroll’s father, according to the Canadian, might lead to a surprise move.

Hamilton, he feels, does not want Russell as a teammate because he wants someone who “doesn’t bother him.”

In an interview with the Italian journal Libero Quotidiano, Villeneuve stated, “For me, he [Bottas] might transfer to Aston Martin in lieu of Lance Stroll, who would go to Mercedes.”

“Toto Wolff’s desire, as much as Stroll senior’s, is to watch his kid win championships. Toto also requires a space for Valtteri.

“It’s safe to say Hamilton despises Russell as a teammate. Bottas is a better choice because he doesn’t worry him.”

Meanwhile, despite losing the Drivers’ Championship to Hamilton, Villeneuve has been highly impressed with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen this season.

“He’s in great shape, Red Bull is targeting him, and he drives the car flawlessly,” Villeneuve remarked.

“Whether he wins the Championship or not, this is the correct year for him, and he has grown tremendously.

“He is pitted against a Mercedes in dire straits, searching for the hundredth that makes all the difference.

“The same applies for Hamilton: he fought Bottas last year, and now he has to defend himself against Verstappen to remain afloat.

“Red Bull took advantage of Verstappen, and the car is now an arrow in his hands. Nobody else will be able to be as relaxed as you.”

Meanwhile, Villeneuve is a big fan of McLaren’s Lando Norris and thinks he’ll be a big star in the future.

“Lando Norris,” says the narrator. When asked who he favors from the younger generation, Villeneuve replied, “He demolished Ricciardo.”

“He’s matured, and he’s a formidable competitor.

“Like Stroll, he’s a ‘daddy’s kid,’ but he shows a remarkable hunger, which is unusual for drivers who don’t have to work hard.”

F1 is currently on hiatus until the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of August.
