Lewis Hamilton explains his driving style, which is uncannily similar to Max Verstappen’s.

LEWIS HAMILTON has stepped away from the limelight following his world championship loss to Max Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton has described his driving style in a way that is uncannily similar to title rival Max Verstappen’s.

In 2021, the duo competed in a once-in-a-lifetime event, with the Dutchman emerging victorious and claiming the title in Abu Dhabi.

It was a season full of controversy, and the finale at Yas Marina was no exception.

With one lap to go, FIA race director Michael Masi contentiously brought the pair bumper-to-bumper, giving Verstappen a lifeline that has been replayed around the world.

The Red Bull driver won a nail-biting battle on fresher tyres, clinching his first world title in the process.

Hamilton and the Mercedes team were stunned, which was understandable given how comfortably they had led for the majority of the race.

Since then, little has been heard from Hamilton, and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has refused to rule out the possibility of his retirement.

Fans, on the other hand, always hope that both Verstappen and Hamilton will return for the 2022 season, as their heated rivalry makes for compelling television.

And, while they didn’t always agree, the Mercedes man’s description of his own driving style suggests they have a lot in common.

When the PETRONAS Motorsports YouTube channel asked him to describe his driving style, he simply stated, “Aggressive.”

Many would have attributed Verstappen’s aggressive style to him rather than Hamilton throughout the 2021 season.

Indeed, in Abu Dhabi, the Dutchman was judged to have overstepped the mark in an early move on Hamilton, and his last-lap overtake was accomplished via an audacious dive down the inside.

On lap 48 of their intense battle for the lead, Verstappen appeared to run Hamilton wide and off the road, adding to the drama in Brazil.

Hamilton’s assessment of his own driving style was also visible at times during the season, despite the fact that the Red Bull driver does not give up a position easily.

His controversial move up the inside caused Verstappen to crash at high speed at Silverstone, sending him to the hospital before the Brit.
