Lewis Hamilton conducts background research on Max Verstappen in order to learn more about his upbringing.

In the Formula One World Championship, Lewis Hamilton is eight points behind Max Verstappen.

has disclosed that he does background checks on competitors such as. The Mercedes driver is looking for small gains as he attempts to close an eight-point lead with Red Bull’s Verstappen and win his ninth World Championship.

Verstappen now has the lead in the battle to be named the best driver in the year 2021.

The two have clashed on multiple occasions in an epic struggle, with their rivalry being a particular highlight of the year.

And Hamilton, who won the Qatar Grand Prix to reduce the gap on Verstappen, has admitted to doing background checks on his teammates in order to get an advantage.

“He (Verstappen) isn’t the only driver like this that I’ve raced against,” the British driver told the BBC.

“I’ve raced a lot of drivers over the years, and they’ve all been very different in their demeanor. It’s also fascinating.

“Now that I’m older, I delve a little deeper into their personality and learn a little more about their past and upbringing.

“Our upbringing is the reason we act out and behave the way we do, for better or worse.”

“So I try to comprehend those so I may have a better understanding of who the character I’m racing with is.”

Hamilton and Verstappen have collided twice recently, adding to the pressure as each try to win the World Championship.

At both the British and Italian Grand Prix, there were clashes as tempers reached a boiling point.

After the altercation at Silverstone, Hamilton was fined, while Verstappen was fined for the incident in Italy. Following their incident at Silverstone, Red Bull CEO Christian Horner criticized Hamilton of being “reckless” and “amateur.”

The 36-year-old, on the other hand, has stated that he has no remorse about the incident.

“Backing out is the sensible option pretty much all of the time if you’re on the outside of a car in order to see the end of the race,” Hamilton continued.

“There are circumstances where I honestly believe I was in the right, [when]I’m virtually wheel to wheel with the car, if you’re on the inside.”
