Leeds United have reportedly been given a green light to pursue the signing of Arsenal defender Rob Holding this summer.
Marcelo Bielsa is looking at defensive options to strengthen his team ahead of their first season back in the Premier League.
It is believed the Championship winners are very keen on bringing Holding’s Premier League experience to their backline.
Now the Daily Star have reported that Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has put the 24-year-old on the transfer list as he is deemed surplus to requirements.
With Arsenal open to offers, it is reported that this could give Leeds a real extra incentive to push ahead for his signature.
Holding has picked up some solid experience with the Gunners, making 78 appearances for the club in all competitions since first breaking into the senior team against Liverpool in August 2016.
However his chances have become far less frequent and he only made eight appearances during the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.
Arteta has reportedly put a total of 15 players up for sale during this summer’s transfer window in a bid to generate funds for his own summer business.
Across the back line there looks to be some change with Sokratis also believed to among those put up for sale.
Arsenal’s boss will look forward to having William Saliba with his squad following his season-long loan at Saint-Etienne last season.
The Gunners are also preparing to sign Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille for a fee of £27m.
The 22-year-old Brazilian is reportedly expected to sign a five-year deal with the club in the next week.
