Amir Khan is battling an injury in training camp, just one month before his fight with Kell Brook.

The long-awaited welterweight bout between Amir Khan and Kell Brook, set to take place in Manchester in February, has piqued the interest of British boxing fans.

Amir Khan is dealing with injuries and niggles as he prepares for his rematch with Kell Brook later this month.

Khan and Brook will fight in an all-British bout in Manchester on February 19, a decade after the idea for a fight was first floated.

The former welterweight champions have engaged in a lot of verbal sparring since then, and despite the fact that both men are past their prime, boxing fans are still excited to see a fight take place.

Khan, who hasn’t fought since 2019, is currently training in Colorado and has revealed to Sky Sports how he’s preparing for his rematch with Brook.

“Sportsmen and women, we all have injuries,” the 35-year-old said.

“We always have to overcome and override the pains when we’re at the elite level.”

“When I’m training, I get pains and injuries.”

“I had to spar today, and I still have to overcome my injuries, which I can’t think of right now – I just have to get on with them.”

“My job is to get ready for February 19th, and the aches and pains are evident.”

“It’s not like when you’re 25 – I’m 35 now – where you recover after a tough session,” Khan continued.

“Now the body is taking a little longer, but that’s good because I know if I keep pushing through the pains and aches, I’ll be fine come fight night.”

Khan began his professional boxing career nearly 20 years ago, in 2005.

The Bolton, England, native is a former unified light-welterweight champion, which he first won in 2009 against Andreas Kotelnik.

In July 2019, he stopped Australian Billy Dib in the fourth round for the WBC International welterweight title in Saudi Arabia.

Khan had been stopped by Terence Crawford three months prior while attempting to reclaim the WBO welterweight title.

Brook’s most recent fight, in November 2020, was also a loss to Crawford.
