Just hours after Kieran Trippier’s transfer, Newcastle submits a second bid for Sven Botman.

Just hours after Kieran Trippier’s transfer, Newcastle put in a second bid for Sven Botman.

With a reported bid for Sven Botman, Newcastle United is showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer window.

Newcastle United have made their first major signing since acquiring the club in October, with the £12 million signing of Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier.

The Magpies could then complete a deal for Lille defender Sven Botman, with the club reportedly making a’second bid’ for the Dutchman.

Eddie Howe’s side has struggled mightily in the Premier League this season, with only 11 points from 19 games and a second-place finish.

Despite a multi-million pound takeover in October, the club has only managed one win this season, putting them in danger of relegation.

With the league’s joint-worst defense, the club has resorted to defensive reinforcements, including the £12 million signing of England international Trippier on Friday morning.

But, with central defense becoming an even bigger issue, Howe and his staff have made strengthening the back end a top priority.

And, after having a bid for Lille star Sven Botman rejected earlier in the window, it appears the Magpies are determined to sign their man.
