Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, makes a strong January transfer hint: ‘Couldn’t care less.’
During the summer transfer window, Liverpool was conservative with their spending.
When it comes to the January transfer window, Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Liverpool may be in for a quiet month, claiming that he ‘couldn’t care less’ about what other teams are doing. The Reds only signed one player during the summer transfer window, with RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate coming on a five-year deal.
Liverpool matched the Frenchman’s £36 million release clause in order to bring him to Anfield, but no more additions were made.
They were linked with a number of high-profile players, including Youri Tielemans of Leicester City and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain.
The six-time European winners, on the other hand, were hesitant to match their Premier League title rivals’ extravagant spending habits.
Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United all spent over £300 million in the summer transfer window, with Liverpool’s conservative approach attracting criticism from the club’s fan base.
Pep Guardiola and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of City and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of United recently retaliated against Klopp after the Reds manager publicly highlighted the huge amount of money moving hands at football’s highest level.
However, the 54-year-old has subsequently backed up his allegations, claiming that he will not be forced to spend excessively in January or next summer to join the ‘circus.’
Klopp told reporters ahead of Sunday’s match against Leeds United at Elland Road, “Clubs do business.”
“Obviously, my English is an issue for me. I certainly irritate some of the other managers from time to time.
“I don’t want to do that; why should I? But I say something because I think it’s appropriate – and it probably is in my opinion – and then I hear the response from someone else a few days later and wonder why he’s on his toes?
“To be honest, I don’t give a damn what other clubs are up to. Honest. I’ve been here for over six years.
“When I first arrived here, I signed up for this method. We were pretty successful at the time. Not the most successful in the world, but successful nonetheless.
“That’s exactly how we won a number of trophies.” We’re always asked why we do things the way we do them.
“We believed it would be prudent to sign our squad [to long-term contracts]now.”Brinkwire Summary News”.
