Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho accused the Premier League of treating the postponed match against Fulham in an unprofessional way. Due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Cottagers’ camp, Mourinho’s side were forced to cancel the game less than three hours before kickoff, and he compared the situation to what he faced as a youth coach in Portugal.
After assembling his squad at the club’s training ground with the hope that the game would take place, Mourinho was disappointed by the lack of contact from the league. ‘I don’t want to talk about it too much,’ said Mourinho. “I just want to say that I felt it was unprofessional, but that’s the way it was. When I coached the U13s and U15s 30 years ago, sometimes we went to the game at 9:30 a.m. and the opponent wasn’t there. “Or sometimes you would get to the game on one of those occasional rainy Portuguese Sundays and you would get there and the referee didn’t turn up. I grew up with those situations, and I was very frustrated with all of them, particularly the kids who want to play soccer and don’t find out until the last few minutes,”I grew up with those situations and was very frustrated for everyone, especially the kids who want to play soccer and don’t and don’t find out until the last few minutes,” “The same thing almost happened to us. The day before the game, the press was all over it that the game was going to be postponed. I don’t think it’s possible. “I don’t think it is possible to have such a situation. I don’t think it’s possible. ” “The extreme situation we had in pre-season, which nobody talked much about because people probably thought, ‘OK, it’s a Europa League playoff game, Tottenham have two teams, Tottenham can play Maccabi with the second team and still win,'” Mourinho said. Yet we have to refuse to go through the situation we had to go through… again. “But the situation we had to go through…we have to refuse to go through that again. ” If some Einstein comes up with the idea that we’re playing four games a week, we can’t agree at all that we’re doing the same thing as before – Premier League, second game, third game and fourth game with a day in between. Unthinkable. “So I think this is the Premier League. This is a league with great responsibility in the world. “This is the league with the best managers, with the best teams, with the best players, of course not all, but in general. “With very good referees. I think we have to be good in everything and all be professionals.”
