Japhet Tanganga has signed a new five-year contract at Tottenham after making his debut back in January.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign this season and went on to make 11 appearances in total for Jose Mourinho’s side.
He made his Premier League debut in a 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool in January and has played at right-back under Mourinho.
The defender has not featured since before the lockdown, due to a lower back injury leaving him out of action.
He returned to the bench for Spurs final four Premier League matches but did not feature as Tottenham went on to clinch a sixth-placed finish in the league and qualify for next season’s Europa League.
Tanganga has become a popular figure with the fans despite only making eleven appearances for the first-team.
He faces stiff competition come next season with right-back Serge Aurier impressing in the latter stages of the season.
