In the wake of Antoine Griezmann’s sale to Tottenham, Barcelona’s president has opened the door to him leaving the club.
Tottenham has been connected with Antoine Griezmann, who may replace Harry Kane if he leaves the club.
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, has refused to rule out a summer transfer for Antoine Griezmann. Tottenham has been connected with Griezmann as the Premier League club prepares to lose Harry Kane, and Laporta has said that Barcelona may be willing to sell Griezmann in order to fund a new agreement for Lionel Messi.
Griezmann joined Barcelona in a £108 million trade from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid two years ago.
However, the 30-year-old France attacker might be moved now that the Catalan club has verbally agreed to a new five-year contract with Messi, who is presently out of contract.
Griezmann has been linked with a return to Atletico Madrid, although Tottenham has allegedly requested to be kept updated on the situation.
While Laporta stated that his club is “depending” on him for next season, he did allow that bids for him would be evaluated.
“Griezmann is a Barcelona player, he has a contract with the club until 2024, and we are betting on him,” Laporta stated this week as Barca revealed new signing Memphis Depay.
“There have been some market moves, and we can’t deny that interest in him exists. That is a proof of his high caliber.
“It’s a unique market, and you have to look outside the box, potentially in terms of swap transactions, but we place a high value on Antoine. The club made a significant investment on him, and we are pleased with the results.
“It’s difficult for a club to make an offer for a player of his caliber. However, the transfer window is still open, and Griezmann is on the market.
“If things get rolling, we’re open to all suggestions since we’re in a tight financial spot and need to balance the books to meet the league’s financial fair play rules.”
According to the Daily Star, Tottenham has requested to be kept informed about Griezmann’s condition.
The North London club is anxious to keep Kane this summer, despite Manchester United and Manchester City showing interest in the England captain.
Meanwhile, according to L’Equipe, Barcelona is attempting to make a move for. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
