Phil Foden and Manchester City have reached an agreement on a new four-year deal that will keep him with the team until the end of his career.
The midfield player, who will turn 26 at the end of the month, has only started two Premier League games since mid-January due to a challenging season.
Foden will have to wait anxiously to find out if Thomas Tuchel’s England team will include him in the World Cup.
The academy graduate’s existing contract was set to expire at the end of the upcoming season, so Foden gave Rafaela Pimenta instructions to negotiate new terms amid a squad reorganisation.
Pimenta also represents Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, and Erling Haaland, a teammate at City.
A pact lasting until 2030 has been agreed upon in principle, with the possibility of an extra year.
After agreeing to a new four-year contract, Phil Foden has stated that he will continue at Man City.
Regaining his form for City after a challenging six months is now Foden’s first priority. He made a strong start to the season and seemed to have recovered from a decline in his previous season’s performances by going into goal-scoring form around November.
However, after the January Manchester derby loss, he has been left off of Pep Guardiola’s preferred starting lineup.
In 46 games thus far this season, Foden has 10 goals and five assists. He is competing with Jude Bellingham, Morgan Rogers, and Cole Palmer for England’s No. 10 spot.
