In the face of a Man City title challenge, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is making good on his vow to transfer players to United.

After finishing second last season, Manchester United will be trying to fight for the Premier League crown this season.

When Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a minute to reflect. Manchester United had lost 2-1 at home to Leicester City with three games left in the season, ensuring that the title would be decided at the Etihad Stadium.

Adidas and Manchester United have unveiled their official 2021/22 home jersey, which features a modern take on the club’s traditional designs.

The Red Devils appeared to be solidly in contention for Premier League glory at one point during the season, having risen to the top of the table in January, but a run of two wins in eight games eventually ruled them out.

Man City had won the Premier League for the third time in four seasons, and Pep Guardiola’s team had once again led by example.

Solskjaer acknowledged that new recruits will be required in the summer in order to launch a title fight after his side’s defeat to Leicester, which meant City could no longer be caught mathematically.

“We need to strengthen our group if we want to take on the challenge with them [Man City],” he told BT Sport. “I’d like to congratulate them. They’ve had an outstanding season.

“I am really proud of my players for making it to the final ten days against a Manchester City team that is often regarded as the finest in Europe.

“We want to go the next step, and it’s possible we’ll need a couple more to round out the team.”

And that is just what United’s CEO is doing.

The Red Devils finally signed winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million, delivering a transfer statement to the rest of the league.

Sancho has been projected for a great future in the game, and he has already demonstrated his immense potential in the Bundesliga over the previous three seasons.

In 104 league appearances in Germany, the England international scored 38 goals and added 51 assists, boosting United’s chances of competing with City for silverware.

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, who is now on loan at United, is another name that has been connected with a move to Old Trafford. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
