In order to succeed Neil Lennon as Celtic manager, Gheorghe Hagi must sensationally deny that he is in talks

Gheorghe Hagi, the Romanian legend, has been forced to deny sensationally that he is in negotiations to replace Neil Lennon as the Celtic boss.

In his homeland, rumors have surfaced saying he is being mooted as a possible replacement for the manager of the Hoops.

Hagi is said to have already opened talks with the Celtic board, as PlaySport announced earlier this week, saying he is a’ plausible’ choice.

But the former superstar of Real Madrid and Barcelona was swift to refute the allegations.

Hagi said in a blunt statement, “Gica Hagi has issued a short press statement denying negotiations with Scottish team Glasgow Celtic. The Romanian coach claims that there are no talks with the team from Celtic Park.”

Hagi, Rangers star Ianis’s father, refuted the allegations less than 24 hours after Celtic’s 1-0 Ibrox loss left them 19 points behind their rivals.

This season, Lennon came under fire for the shortcomings of Celtic, who have now seen them disqualified from Europe and the Betfred Cup, as well as losing twice and drawing four times.
