In his new mega-money Man City contract, Phil Foden is expected to earn an eye-watering pay hike.

After establishing himself as one of Europe’s brightest talents, Phil Foden is expected to be given a lucrative deal with his hometown club, Manchester City, as the club looks to ensure his future.

Phil Foden, the Manchester City superstar, is about to sign a new and better contract for nearly £50 million.

The England international has been in talks with the Premier League winners and is close to agreeing to a six-year contract worth £150,000 per week.

After emerging as one of Europe’s brightest prospects, Etihad chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak has been determined to safeguard Foden’s long-term future.

Foden signed a new contract in 2018, but he has since cemented his place in the England side and become a key member of Pep Guardiola’s title-winning squad.

The new contract is expected to be confirmed in the coming week after being agreed in principle before the international break.

Foden has drawn the attention of Europe’s top teams, but he is a longtime City supporter who has no plans to leave.

Foden’s start to the new season was delayed owing to a foot injury that kept him out of England’s Euro 2020 final loss to Italy on penalties.

He has been back to his best since regaining fitness, scoring a spectacular goal in City’s exciting 2-2 draw with championship rivals Liverpool at Anfield.

Foden debuted for City in the Champions League in 2017 and has since made 130 appearances for the club, scoring 33 goals and earning 11 England caps.

Foden, who was born in Stockport, has three Premier League crowns, four League Cups, and the FA Cup to his name, as well as reaching the Champions League final last season, which City lost to Chelsea.

Foden is the latest high-profile City player to commit their long-term future to the Premier League champions, following the signings of Ederson, John Stones, Rube Dias, and Kevin De Bruyne in the last six months.
