In Brendan Rodgers’ battle, Manchester City has a vital advantage over mega-rich rivals Newcastle.

Manchester City might deal a big blow to Newcastle in their hunt for a new manager, as the tug-of-war for Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers continues.Manchester City could obstruct their new mega-rich rivals Newcastle in their bid to tempt Rodgers to replace Pep Guardiola in the near future.

Newcastle has made Rodgers their ‘no.1 priority’ to follow Steve Bruce and guide the Magpies through a long-term rebuild as the club’s new wealthy owners hope to compete for the Premier League title within five years, according to reports.

Despite Newcastle’s intentions, Rodgers has stated that he has no interest in succeeding Bruce because he is totally dedicated to his role at Leicester.

However, this could be due to a potential role at City that is about to open up.

Rodgers, according to the Daily Mail, will reject any offer from Newcastle because he is being lined up to succeed Guardiola as City manager in just 18 months, after insiders stated that the current Leicester manager will be on a shortlist to succeed the Spaniard after next season.

The battle for Rodgers appears to be heating up, with both of the Premier League’s wealthy heavyweights vying for the Leicester manager, who hasn’t had the best start to the season.

Guardiola is expected to leave City when his contract expires in the summer of 2023, which means the Premier League winners will be on the hunt for a suitable replacement as they seek to maintain their domestic dominance.

To begin the season, Rodgers’ side defeated the Citizens 1-0 in the Community Shield, and Leicester was playing that game after winning their first ever FA Cup, while Chelsea was lost by the same scoreline.

Everyone seems to want a piece of Rodgers, who appears to have a plethora of possibilities if he decides to leave Leicester.
