In a severe warning to the summer signing, Jadon Sancho will be demoted to the bottom of the Manchester United pecking order.

In his first months at Old Trafford, Manchester United’s £73 million summer signing has struggled to make an effect.

When Marcus Rashford returns from injury, Jadon Sancho has been cautioned that he must improve for Manchester United or risk being benched. After an 18-month search, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally got his long-term aim this summer, with Sancho joining from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million.

Over the past three seasons, the 21-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s most dependable wingers in terms of goals and assists.

Despite not scoring a league goal until January, Sancho scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists for his teammates in the Bundesliga last season.

He has yet to establish form since his move to Old Trafford, and has yet to directly contribute a goal or assist in his first six outings for his new club, despite the fact that expectations were raised following his high-profile signing.

Sancho was wasteful in the Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham, with the Red Devils crashing out in the third round after failing to score despite five attempts.

After the return of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, competition for spots in Solskjaer’s starting XI is fierce.

Rashford has been out since undergoing shoulder surgery this summer, but he is expected to return in October.

Former striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged Sancho that he must vastly improve his level of performance before Rashford takes his place.

Agbonlahor told talkSPORT, “I’m anxious because the big man Rashford is on his way back.”

“If you haven’t started a game in the Premier League and Rashford returns, you’ll be even farther down the pecking order.

“Rashford will return to the team immediately, with Greenwood on the right and Ronaldo in the center.

“Before Rashford becomes available, he needs to start putting in performances.”

After an exhausting journey to the Euro 2020 final with England, Sancho has been eased into life at Old Trafford by returning later to pre-season training than his teammates.

The winger was also unwell prior to the team’s season opener against Leeds United, and he was only given a brief cameo from the bench.

And Solskjaer defended his summer signing, claiming that the attacker requires more time. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
