In a Man United transfer tease, Raphael Varane breaks the hush as fans wait for the official announcement.
Raphael Varane offered Manchester United supporters a taste of what they can expect after he completes his £35 million deal.
While his future Manchester United teammates ran wild in their 4-0 win over Everton on Saturday, few could blame Raphael Varane for feeling impatient with the slow pace of his transfer to Old Trafford. So he did what any other housebound person would do: he started playing football in the garden.
Late in July, the Red Devils revealed that they had reached an agreement to sign the centre-back, following their £73 million signing of Jadon Sancho.
Varane has agreed to a five-year contract with Ole Gunnar Solskjaker as he prepares to join the club as Ole Gunnar Solskjaker’s third summer acquisition.
However, due to formalities related to his visa, the defender’s £35 million transfer from Real Madrid has yet to be completed, and he has not to be unveiled by the club.
Varane is unlikely to make his Premier League debut against Leeds United on Saturday as a result of the delay, which has prompted alarm among the fans.
But, following his latest social media tease, it is just a matter of time before the 28-year-old is paraded in front of the Old Trafford faithful.
After posting a video to his official Instagram account, United fans may rest confident that their move for Varane has not been derailed at the last minute.
Varane, who has over 16 million Instagram followers, gave United fans a little peek at what they may expect from their new addition.
Varane was seen juggling a football with excellent technique and control in a garden in footage posted to his Instagram Stories.
It’s unclear whether the Frenchman has already secured a permanent home in Manchester, but this is the first time Varane has spoken to his fans since the news broke.
He marked the image with a message underneath that read: ‘Quarantine practice!’ It was significant that he specified his location as ‘Manchester, United Kingdom.’
Due to the government’s abroad travel prohibitions surrounding coronavirus, Varane is currently self-isolating under quarantine.
The France international is set to be introduced as a Manchester United player as soon as his spell of isolation is over.
Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has clarified the situation behind Varane’s delay and believes the trade will be completed soon.
“Now it’s just paperwork,” Brinkwire Summary News says.
