If Liverpool splashed the cash in the summer transfer window, this is Jurgen Klopp’s fantasy XI.

The lack of movement in the summer transfer window has angered Liverpool fans.

There were still some Liverpool fans hoping for further signings on deadline day, but they were left disappointed as the Reds stood back and watched as their rivals snatched up late deals. Norwich, Brighton, and Crystal Palace all spent more money in the transfer market than Liverpool.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has declared on multiple occasions that he will only bring in new players if he believes they will strengthen his present group.

Ibrahima Konate was the lone new signing, costing £36 million, with the majority of the money recouped through player sales.

However, no successor has been found for Georginio Wijnaldum, and Xherdan Shaqiri’s departure has also left a void in Klopp’s squad.

However, a number of players were linked with transfers to Anfield during the summer transfer window, and Express Sport looks at what Klopp’s roster could have looked like if he had made further additions.

Liverpool has been linked with bringing in a new back-up option for Alisson.

In the last days of the transfer window, Derby’s David Marshall was identified as a surprise target for the Reds.

Caoimhin Kelleher, however, has been elevated to second-choice goalkeeper this season, ahead of Adrian.

Last month, Alisson agreed to a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

Another position where Liverpool were unlikely to improve on their preferred starters was full-back, where greater squad depth may have been required.

At right-back, Neco Williams remains the primary cover, but Joe Gomez can also play fullback.

However, with the addition of Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool now have a plethora of options at centre-back, and Kostas Tsimikas has already demonstrated that he is more than capable of filling in for Andy Robertson.

Part of Liverpool’s difficulty in finding a replacement for Wijnaldum stemmed from Klopp’s plethora of choices at the club.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita will be looking for an injury-free season, while Harvey Elliott has already been trusted to play in the advanced midfield role.

However, Liverpool’s interest in both Yves Bissouma and Florian Neuhaus was well discussed.

Both players match the Liverpool mold, since they are both young and have a lot of promise. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
