Ian Wright gives Daniel Levy a deadline for a transfer and backs a key Tottenham signing.

Ian Wright issues a transfer deadline to Daniel Levy and backs a key Tottenham acquisition.

A message has been sent to Tottenham Hotspur manager Daniel Levy about his January transfer plans.

According to Ian Wright, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy must recognize the quality of manager he has in Antonio Conte and back him in the transfer market.

Conte recently expressed his desire to strengthen Tottenham’s squad during the current transfer window.

And, if Levy does not provide funds to the Italian, Wright admits he will be at a loss.

Conte has had over two months to assess the quality of his squad since taking over as Spurs manager in November.

And he’s come to the conclusion that the club needs to recruit to get back to where it was during his previous spell in England.

Tottenham has won all eight of their Premier League games under Conte, and they are only two points behind the top four with two games remaining.

However, Spurs’ 2-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg loss to Chelsea on Wednesday highlighted the disparity between them and the league’s top teams.

Conte’s record in Europe over the last decade or so has earned him the title of arguably the best manager Spurs have had in generations.

Wright sees significant progress under Conte and believes that now, more than ever, is the time for Levy to make significant market investments.

“You look at how close they are [to the top four], Tottenham, and how far they looked when Nuno was in charge, and see how quickly [Conte] sorted out the defense,” he said on the Kelly and Wrighty Show.

“He’s got Tottenham playing at a faster tempo, getting the ball to the frontmen, and now the frontmen are ready to go because they’re getting the service.”

“I don’t know what to say if Daniel Levy doesn’t recognize that he now has a manager who he has to back, whether it’s in January or in the summer.”

Spurs are interested in converting Wolves’ Adama Traore to a right winger.

Conte must improve on summer signing Emerson Royal, according to Wright, if he is to reach his goals.
