Ian Poulter and Brooks Koepka are among the Ryder Cup’s Friday foursomes pairings.

At the opening ceremony conducted at the Whistling Straits golf course in Wisconsin, the Ryder Cup 2021 Friday foursomes pairings were announced.

The Ryder Cup pairings for the foursomes matches on Friday have been revealed by Team Europe and Team USA. The opening ceremony for the 43rd edition of the biannual tournament took place on Thursday at the Whistling Straits location in Wisconsin, with captains Steve Stricker and Padraig Harrington introducing their players to an appreciative throng.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Ryder Cup was postponed by a year this year.

After a seven-point triumph at Le Golf National near Paris in 2018, Team Europe is the defending champion.

They have dominated in recent years, winning seven of the nine editions of the competition since the millennium began.

The Americans, on the other hand, are favorites to win this time since they have the support of the home audience and have eight of the world’s top ten players among their ranks.

On Friday, there will be four foursome matches and four fourball matches, and the schedule will be repeated on day two.

On both days, play is set to begin at 1.05 p.m. UK time.

The team events are completed on Sunday, and 12 singles matches are played to determine the competition’s final outcome.

Singles matches begin at 5.05 p.m., with 11-minute breaks between matches. Play is set to end around 11 p.m., followed by a closing ceremony.

The winning team will be the one that has accumulated the most points throughout the course of the three days.

In the aftermath of his feud with teammate Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau was one of four players to be left out of Team USA’s Friday morning pairings.

However, Koepka was included and will play alongside Daniel Berger against Lee Westwood and Matt Fitzpatrick in the third match.

Meanwhile, in match four, Team Europe will be represented by Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter, who will face Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.

Pairings in full:

Match 1: Rahm/Garcia vs. Thomas/Spieth (1.05pm tee-off) Casey/Hovland against Johnson/Morikawa (1.21 p.m. tee-off) Match 3 (1.37 p.m. tee-off): Westwood/Fitzpatrick vs. Koepka/Bergerspan.
