Ben Foster may be well-known to contemporary fans for installing a GoPro in his goal, hanging out with Wrexham’s Hollywood owners, and interviewing football players for his “Fozcast” program.
However, he played 23 games for Manchester United, 207 games for Watford, and eight games for the England national team as a top-tier Premier League and international goalkeeper.
Simply put, playing careers don’t endure forever. If you’re fortunate enough, it’s time to start thinking about life beyond football by the time you reach your mid-to-late 30s. Those that are fortunate can become coaches or pundits. Others might work at more “normal” employment.
However, Foster was more interested in the self-made social media, YouTube, and podcast scene. This led to the creation of the YouTube channel “The Cycling GK” and, subsequently, “Fozcast.”
He smiles and tells Daily Mail Sport, “It’s always busy.” All I want is for the weather to improve once more. It will be boiling. He was correct about that.
Vlogs from Foster’s time playing in the Championship for Watford during Covid were the beginning of his YouTube career. He would place a camera in his goal during competitive games to provide spectators a glimpse into those games from his perspective, but the idea was met with mixed reviews.
After retiring in 2023, Ben Foster has developed a remarkable social media career.
When he used a GoPro in his goal while playing during COVID, he became well-known.
A few were grateful for the access. The players were among those who made fun of it. When Jamal Lowe scored for Swansea against the Hornets in January 2021, he raced directly to the camera; Foster would later refer to this as a “ledge celebration.”
However, the camera was banned following Watford’s elevation to the Premier League. “Foster told the Hampshire Chronicle that the supporters’ response wasn’t great. “They were enjoying the videos when you won, but the GoPro is the reason when you perform poorly or receive a poor outcome.”
That was the end of that. Instead, he would make movies responding to football news and participating in various challenges, such “VAR is a shambles” and “ChrisMD vs. TBJZL: Ultimate Penalty Forfeit with Ben Foster.”
But when Foster retired, it became a reality. He ended his career in September 2022 at the age of 39, although he later came out of retirement to play in the fifth division of English football for Hollywood-owned Wrexham, a team he had previously played for on loan from Stoke City prior to joining United.
He signed a new contract that would last until the end of 2024 and was a member of the team that helped Wrexham return to the Football League for the first time in fifteen years. But following a 5-5 draw with Swindon in September 2023, he announced his retirement, claiming he was no longer able to perform at his peak.
Foster, who partied in Las Vegas with club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, adds, “I have always got my finger on the pulse of what’s going on with the club.” This season, I have also attended a good number of games. I was devastated to see them fall out on the playoffs. “I think it’s huge that they are on the verge of the playoffs this year, but it speaks to what they do as a club,” I said. They handle things calmly and nicely. They don’t make snap judgments. I adore the way they operate the club, and Phil Parkinson, the manager, is still the one who makes all the choices.
He decided it was time to launch his social media career, and he did. He accelerated his podcast, rode a bike, and produced football videos. There are currently 1.44 million subscribers to The Cycling GK, 268,000 to Fozcast, and 83,000 to his golf channel, The Golfing GK.

He has worked with some of the greatest names on YouTube, such as The Sidemen.
“We’re all just gearing up for the World Cup,” Foster says of the ambitious ambitions that lie ahead. Foster’s last club was Wrexham, which is co-owned by Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds (left). “For the duration of the tournament, the guys from the podcast and I will be in New York starting around June 13.
Every other day, we’re going to do a program on the Fozcast YouTube channel. In between, we’ll be creating a ton of additional content while riding. That’s something I’m excited about. It will be a hectic one.
Foster has collaborated on projects with some of the most prominent figures in the industry, including ChrisMD and the Sidemen. And all the while, he was building his own empire. Mission accomplished.
His main source of income is still football. the day job. He said of current United custodian Senne Lammens, “He’s really impressed me.” He is composed, measured, and in charge. He seems to be unaffected by anything. He is simply the kindest guy, and his personality reflects what you see on the field. A few months ago, we conducted a podcast with him up at Carrington.
Another goalie is also praised: “David Raya is, without a doubt, the goalkeeper of the year.” That’s how easy it is. His performances are composed, measured, and under control in every way. He is fully aware of what he must accomplish. He doesn’t participate in unnecessary activities, but he is currently the best in the Premier League when it comes to big moments and saves.
What about the World Cup? With Thomas Tuchel vying for England’s first major trophy since 1966, Foster and his side will be in the thick of things. “It’s going to be tough, very, very tough.” The competition’s heavyweights, including the Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Brazilians, are completely stacked. However, I adore huge cup competitions. I adore them because it’s clear why the big guys are the big boys. “England, they’re not going into it in the best of form.” I apologize; I attended the Japan match at Wembley a few months ago, and it was really upsetting. I believe there will be a few of excellent teams as well as some surprises. However, I believe that England will be more resilient to the strain than many other countries. We are one of the six clubs that I still believe have a good chance of winning.
Foster is collaborating closely with Kellogg’s to advertise their summer football programs, among other endeavors.
Foster is urging parents to enroll their kids in the camps before summer arrives.
Even though the World Cup is quickly approaching, Foster is involved in a number of other projects. They include collaborating collaboratively with Kellogg’s, who are providing 39,000 free spots at 73 football club summer caps nationally this summer, and organizing a charity cycling trip from London to Paris for Cure Leukaemia.
The camps, which are accessible through promotional packs of Kellogg’s cereal, provide boys and girls between the ages of five and fifteen the opportunity to get active, develop their confidence, and meet new friends in sessions taught by FA-qualified coaches.
“In my story, grassroots is everything,” adds Foster. “I entered an academy without ever growing up.” I was never afforded the luxury. My brothers and I were playing on the school field, and they were just hitting me with balls. After school, my friends and I would go play till it got dark because it was all we could do. “Sign them up to it, it’s as simple as that.” When my children were younger, we would enroll them in sports camps and netball camps. They are currently 16 and 17 years old. When kids are there, they are not permitted to play on their phones or engage in any other such behavior. They’re there, they’re outside, they’re getting some fresh air, and they’re picking up these priceless interpersonal and teamwork skills.
“I used to adore it.” They would leave with a packed lunch, return at five o’clock at night, exhausted and essentially ready for bed, and then leave again the following day.
Thus, the wicked truly have no rest. Many football players, including Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, and John Obi Mikel, are emulating Foster. If you will, he has been a trendsetter and has done a great job setting up his post-playing career.
He jokes, “If you want me, I’ll be out my bike, or I’ll be playing golf,” to put an end to the chaos. “Easy as that.”
