When Whyte met Povetkin at the ‘Rumble on the Rock,’ he was looking for atonement.

The British fighter had already lost to Povetkin in August of last year.

After continuing to win fights for several years, Whyte was on the verge of a world title challenge.

He’d won his previous 11 fights in a row, and a mandatory challenge to Tyson Fury’s world title was all but guaranteed if he beat Povetkin.

In the early rounds, Whyte was largely in command of the fight, knocking Povetkin down twice.

He was on his way to victory when he was knocked unconscious by a powerful left uppercut.

Povetkin prevailed in the fight, handing Whyte his second career loss.
