Hibs’ Joe Newell signs new two-year deal at Easter Road


HIBS have tied Joe Newell down on a contract that runs until 2023.

The 27-year-old joined the club from Rotherham in 2019 and has established himself as a key part of Jack Ross’ side.

The deal has the option of an extra year and is a welcome boost for the Easter Road outfit as they continue their bid to finish third in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Speaking to Hibs’ official website, he said: “I’m really pleased to have agreed the contract and it was an easy decision, to be honest.

“I’ve said consistently how happy I am here, on and off the pitch.

“If it’s taken a bit of time to get it finalised then it’s because there was never any need to rush it from either side.

“My focus has been on getting back fit and it was a relief to be back involved on Saturday.”
