Has Leroy Sane confirmed Kai Havertz’ move to Chelsea? Star says it’s ‘good they have signed’ German

Leroy Sane may have just confirmed Kai Havertz’s move to Chelsea in his unveiling at Bayern Munich.

The former Manchester City winger was asked why German players are so in-demand in the Premier League with Timo Werner having already signed for the Blues this summer.

And Sane replied: ‘I think Germany has always had very good young German players. Many young players get their chance and develop well in the Bundesliga. I think that with Werner and Havertz, two Germans in one year, Chelsea did a good job.’

Chelsea have been heavily linked with the Bayer Leverkusen star who has netted 17 times in all competitions this season.

The 21-year-old was reportedly set to ask his current club to allow him to make the move to Stamford Bridge upon his return to training this week.

The transfer fee is expected to be in the region of £90million with £63million being paid up front and the rest coming in add-ons.

The Blues have already spent £50million on Werner and £37million on Hakim Ziyech but Frank Lampard is keen to make the talented youngster his next signing.

Real Madrid have also shown an interest in Havertz but club president Florentino Perez recently admitted that the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on finances would limit what the Spanish side could do in the transfer market this summer.

Sane was confirmed as a Bayern player earlier this month after spending four years with Man City.

The German champions have also been linked with a move for Havertz but their new signing seemed to think his future lies outside of his homeland.

The pair have represented their country at international level and both have promising futures for their national side.

Chelsea’s battle to secure Champions League football will go down to the final day after they were beaten 5-3 by Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The Blues need a point to confirm their place in the top four with Manchester United and Leicester playing each other in the last fixture.

The Foxes’ Ben Chilwell and Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico have also been rumoured to be on Lampard’s wanted list this summer as well as a new goalkeeper with Kepa Arrizabalaga linked with a move back to Spain.
