Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos described Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player he’s ever played with, as the German picked a dream line-up from his career team-mates.
Speaking alongside his brother on the Einfach Mal Luppen podcast, the 30-year-old included the Portuguese forward in the line-up, having spent four years as Ronaldo’s team-mate at Real Madrid.
Overall, Kroos picked five Real Madrid players, four Bayern Munich stars and two ex-Bayer Leverkusen team-mates in a 3-2-2-3 formation.
Ronaldo was picked up front alongside German pair Miroslav Klose and Thomas Mueller, who both played with the midfielder at Bayern Munich.
Klose is the all-time record goalscorer in World Cup history, while Mueller has over 200 goals for the Bundesliga giants, having played at the Allianz Arena throughout his entire career.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, has more goals than both Klose and Mueller combined, with the Portuguese forward scoring 636 career goals to date, including 450 at Real Madrid.
In goal, Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was Kroos’ obvious choice between the sticks, with the pair winning three Bundesliga titles, two German Cups, the 2013 Champions League trophy and the 2014 World Cup together.
In defence, Kroos opted to pick two Bayer Leverkusen defenders, Stefan Reinartz and Gonzalo Castro, either side of Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
Reinartz and Castro were Kroos’ team-mates when the midfielder spent a 18-month loan spell at the BayArena between 2009 and 2010.
Overall, the midfielder made 43 Bundesliga apperances for Leverkusen, scoring 10 goals.
Ramos, meanwhile, has been on the same pitch as Kroos when Real Madrid won three Champions League titles in a row between 2016 and 2018.
Kroos called the 34-year-old centre-half as the ‘best defender of all-time’, having scored 11 league goals to fire the Spanish giants to the 2019-20 La Liga title.
Alongside himself in midfield, Kroos picked international team-mate Joshua Kimmich, who has been capped nearly 50 times for his country.
Fellow Real Madrid midfielders Casemiro and Luka Modric make up the dream line-up. The trio have been team-mates since 2014 and form the core of the current Real Madrid team.
