Gary Neville weighs in on the Manchester United transfer deadline day drama.

Gary Neville, a Manchester United legend, believes his former team did the right thing by selling Daniel James to Leeds United.

Gary Neville, a Manchester United legend, has given his judgement on Daniel James’ move to Leeds United, claiming that the transaction will benefit all parties involved. After Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, James joined the Whites.

James left United after failing to earn a starting spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s senior team.

After joining from Swansea for £15 million in 2019, the quick winger looked potential.

However, he was pushed down the pecking order by Jadon Sancho’s arrival this summer after failing to keep a first-team spot.

It was determined that James would be allowed to leave after Ronaldo’s emotional return to United.

Marcelo Bielsa, the manager of Leeds United, is a major fan of the winger and came within a whisker of signing him just months before he joined the Red Devils in 2019.

When James became available late in the summer window, the Whites wasted no time in agreeing to a £25 million deal.

While some may view the winger’s Old Trafford tenure as a case of what might have been, Neville feels the move will be beneficial to all parties involved.

At Elland Road, James is projected to be a first-team regular, possibly replacing Helder Costa on the wing.

He said after the transfer was finalized that he believes the winger will thrive under Bielsa.

“I believe it’s fantastic for Dan James,” Neville remarked.

“I believe it is one of those win-win situations. Dan James’ departure does not make me sad.

“When he got to Man United, he always gave it his all. On the counter-attack, there’s a huge threat. Man United, on the other hand, has a plethora of players in such positions.

“I believe it is critical for young athletes to get out and play. And he’s always been a target for Leeds. They were interested in him before Man United acquired him.

“He’ll fit in well with Leeds’ style of play. You have to admire Leeds’ counter-attacking ability. One-on-one situations can be found all around the field.

“He’ll enjoy himself there. The crowd is, of course, a large one that has high expectations.

“I believe it is a positive thing for Manchester United to have the money they have.

“I believe it is fortunate for Dan James.”Brinkwire Summary News”.
