Fulham will rival Leeds United for Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis.
Scott Parker is keen to strengthen his midfield options ahead of their return to the top flight, particularly with Villarreal pushing to sign Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
Club scouts have identified 20-year-old Florentino who is available for a £2.5m loan fee though Benfica want £40m at the end of the season to make the deal permanent.
Leeds have also asked about the Portugal U20 international, who can play as a holding player or box to box, as have AC Milan. Florentino has been scouted by Manchester City and United but was in and out of Benfica’s side after niggling injuries prior to making a comeback at the end of the season.
Fulham have also discussed Wigan’s Antonee Robinson and Nottingham Forest’s £15m-rated full-back Matty Cash but face competition from Sheffield United and Southampton.
Forest signed former Reading defender Tyler Blackett on Saturday and completed a deal for free agent striker Lyle Taylor.
Meanwhile, Leeds United full-back Barry Douglas, 30, is attracting interest from Celtic.
