Frenkie de Jong has lauded Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi following his side’s 3-2 win over Real Betis at the weekend.
Messi grabbed three assists during Sunday’s clash in Seville with the Argentine setting up De Jong, Sergio Busquets and Clement Lenglet.
And De Jong has lavished praise on his Barcelona team-mate by revealing how easy it is to play alongside the Argentine.
The former Ajax man said: ‘It’s not that I have a special connection, but he gives you good balls in space.’
De Jong, who joined Barcelona in the summer for £65million, was also happy with his own performance.
He added: ‘I think that was one of my best games after suffering a bit in the last few. But it wasn’t brilliant either.’
Quique Setien’s men are three points behind LaLiga leaders Real Madrid.
The reigning Spanish champions host Getafe at the Nou Camp on Saturday.
