Following Marina Granovskaia’s discussions, Chelsea is closing in on their own Paul Pogba.
Chelsea are set to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a large fee, similar to what Manchester United did five years ago with Paul Pogba.
The footballing world was shaken when Manchester United signed Paul Pogba in 2016. This was a guy they’d had on their books for years, and he’d returned for a colossal fee. Chelsea are likely to do the same with Romelu Lukaku after Marina Granovskaia made a breakthrough in negotiations with Inter Milan.
Erling Haaland was supposed to be signed by Chelsea this summer.
Both Thomas Tuchel and Roman Abramovich agreed that the Borussia Dortmund striker would be a tremendous success with Chelsea.
However, they are currently in position to land Lukaku.
Chelsea are said to have made a breakthrough in their negotiations to sign the Belgium international, with Italian media reporting that a deal has already been reached.
Lukaku is now certain to become Chelsea’s first – and most significant – signing of the transfer season, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
And, with the deal seemingly certain to go through, it has echoes of United’s signing of Pogba from Juventus in the summer of 2016.

United couldn’t provide him with it at the moment.
They still had Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick in the middle of the field tugging the strings, as well as a variety of other possibilities.
When Ferguson refused to grant Pogba’s demand, the Frenchman decided to leave United and join Juventus on a free transfer, leaving United in disarray.
